Preparing your municipal transparency platform...
The West Hollywood Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on a proposed 22-unit residential building on Shoreham Drive and will also consider formally adopting a resolution recommending denial of a signage zoning change near Sunset Boulevard.
This preview is based on the published Planning Commission agenda. It does not reflect what will actually happen at the meeting.
What's proposed
The commission will consider adopting a resolution that puts in writing its earlier decision from May 7, 2026, recommending that the City Council deny a proposed change to zoning rules. That change would have allowed off-site signs (ads for something not located on the same property) for housing projects that include extra affordable housing, or for properties with long-standing entertainment venues, located on certain commercial corridors near Sunset Boulevard.
Why it matters
This decision affects what kinds of signs can be placed on buildings and properties near Sunset Boulevard, which can change how the area looks and how businesses advertise.

NOTE:
Any agenda item which has not been initiated by 10:30 P.M. may be continued to a subsequent Planning Commission Agenda.
What the Commission will decide
The commission is being asked to adopt Draft Resolution No. PC 26-1643, formally recording its recommendation that the City Council deny the proposed zoning change.
What's proposed
The applicant is requesting permission to demolish all existing structures on the property and build a new six-story building with 22 apartment units. The building would include parking underground.
Why it matters
This is a new housing development that would add 22 residential units to the neighborhood. Because it falls under the state Housing Accountability Act, there are legal limits on how the city can deny or reduce the size of this kind of project.
What the Commission will decide
The commission will hold a public hearing and consider the request, including a draft resolution (No. PC 26-1642) related to the project.
Reminder: please speak clearly into microphones and turn off all cellular phones and pagers.
