Council approved appointment of Randal Mason as City Poet Laureate - authorize City Manager or designee to negotiate and execute Agreement with Randal Mason for a total not-to-exceed amount of $60,000 for laureate services for term 2026-2029
Using city funds, this appointment will cost residents approximately $60,000 over three years to support the literary arts through the City Poet Laureate program. This initiative aims to enhance cultural engagement by promoting poetry and literature in West Hollywood, benefiting both residents and local artists.
For West Hollywood residents, the appointment of a City Poet Laureate means increased access to cultural events and literary activities. Residents can expect more poetry readings, workshops, and community events that celebrate the city's diversity and creativity. This could enhance community engagement and provide educational opportunities for all ages.
