- West Hollywood thrives on bold vision, authentic expression, and collaborative leadership. As an international fashion designer and creative director, I have spent my career turning ambitious ideas into reality by balancing artistic execution with rigorous operational strategy. My journey began with years of intensive art and design study at London’s Central Saint Martins, followed by serving as Director of Operations for Thom Browne as well a Liaison to NASA’s next generation space suit study. When I launched my eponymous brand, MARLON GOBEL, it demanded absolute strategic precision along with skills that translated into immediate global partnerships with historic institutions like Bergdorf Goodman, Swarovski, and the Fashion Institute of Technology. Over a twenty-year career, my work has been recognized by The New York Times and trusted by legendary creative icons, because I deliver on bold ideas, resilience, and unique innovation. I am running for City Council because West Hollywood deserves leadership that understands how to manage complex operations while preserving our distinct, rebellious, and authentic spirit. I will bring fiscal discipline, project management expertise, and an unwavering dedication to making our community a vibrant, sustainable, and forward-thinking destination for residents and creators alike.I would be honored to earn your vote. Let’s build the future of WeHo together.Read full statement →

- I’m Councilmember Chelsea Byers, and in 2022, I ran on the belief that a transformative agenda could deliver a more livable, caring, and connected community. Over my four years as Councilmember and Mayor, I have worked with our community to get real wins on affordability, sustainability, and safety while building a city that's diverse and inclusive for generations to come. During my first term, I've built relationships with decision-makers across Los Angeles County to tackle the urgent issues facing our residents. These regional connections have delivered funding, partnerships, and new opportunities back to West Hollywood while ensuring our city has a voice in the decisions that affect us. I'm proud of the track record I have as a result: Housing + Renter Protections: Led the effort to strengthen our rent stabilization ordinance and accelerated the creation of new affordable housing. Metro Expansion: Helped launch the financial mechanism that will generate $2.2 billion for the creation of Metro’s K Line Northern Extension, bringing three Metro stations to West Hollywood Social Services and Childcare: Championed the expansion of West Hollywood’s child care initiatives and increased social services funding by $1 million. ICE-Free Zones: Co-authored a motion establishing ICE-free zones on city-owned property. Safer Streets: Enhanced streetscape projects by adding protected bike lanes and expanding mobility options to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists. Supporting Local Businesses: Launched the “WeHo Loves Locals Gift Card” program, increasing investment in West Hollywood’s business community. With state funding cuts, families feeling the strain of the affordability crisis, and a Trump administration threatening our rights and freedoms, we can't afford business as usual. As a young, queer renter and transit user, I know we need leaders who will take on tough fights: to lower housing costs, strengthen social services, modernize our aging infrastructure, make our streets safer and easier to navigate, and tackle the climate crisis with the urgency it demands. We must protect what we have built, fix what is broken, and create new opportunities for all those who call West Hollywood home. I would be honored to earn your vote once more. I am proud to be supported by a broad coalition of individuals and organizations including Los Angeles County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath, Congressmember Laura Friedman, Los Angeles County Assessor Jeff Prang, Los Angeles/Orange Counties Building & Construction Trades Council, the California Working Families Party, and Stonewall Democratic Club among others. - I’m seeking to be elected to the City Council of the City of West Hollywood. I’m a proud West Hollywood resident for 22 years. It’s been an honor to serve my community as a nonprofit leader, as a technology leader, as an activist and volunteer. I bring decades of experience in strategic thinking, creating change and listening with compassion. In the corporate world, I’ve created project plans and led teams of various sizes. In the nonprofit word, I’ve helped launch new programs and increased membership, while navigating economic instability to create protections for the future. In both fields, I’ve helped create growth, stability and a culture of belonging. I couldn’t have done any of this without my West Hollywood community. Countless coffee runs with friends, marches, community gatherings, and walks around our neighborhood to clear my head. We have created something truly special in West Hollywood – a community that needs to be valued and preserved. In order to do so, we must listen to residents. Listening does not end after Election Day. It is my job and a great privilege to listen to the residents of West Hollywood, to build consensus around goals, to find common ground when there are disagreements and to be transparent when a goal can’t be achieved. We’ve witnessed many changes over the years, and more changes are coming. It is critical that we prepare for growth, while preserving the core community values that have made West Hollywood a beacon of hope. Lastly: my name is Nigerian and is pronounced CHEE-ed-oo ee-BOO-nee-way. Don’t ever be afraid to ask me how to say it. I won’t be offended.Read full statement →

- Helen is a renter, a queer woman, and a TV writer who can't stay away from local advocacy. It started when she was living in New Orleans during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. As president of the local neighborhood association, she helped create desperately needed housing for displaced residents by working with the city, neighbors, developers, and the historic district. The project she’s most proud of is helping turn an underutilized historic warehouse into 37 units of affordable apartments for working artists and musicians. Those apartments still exist, they're still affordable, and there are now almost 70 of them. Helen moved from New Orleans to LA in 2014 to get her MFA in screenwriting from USC. She then worked her way up from assistant to staffed writer, most recently working as a producer. In 2023 she was part of the writers guild strike. She saw firsthand how union solidarity was essential to our contract negotiation when the Teamsters refused to cross our picket line. Executives thought they could “bank” scripts (get writers to hand in scripts before the strike), and then they could just film things during the strike. But because the Teamsters wouldn’t cross picket lines, production was shut down across the state and country. When unions band together in solidarity, they win. In West Hollywood since 2016, Helen has steadily gotten more involved in the city’s leadership, serving on the West Hollywood Transportation Commission and speaking out at City Council, Commissions, and Advisory Board Meetings. Here in WeHo Helen sees some of the same problems she saw in New Orleans in the aftermath of Katrina - a housing and affordability crisis that threatens the very culture of our city. But she's not afraid to roll up her sleeves and work with all our stakeholders to create more housing, to bring filming back to WeHo, to create safer, more connected streets, and to streamline permitting for all our businesses. Helen believes that by all working together, we can write the next chapter of this incredible city.

- I’m Kevin Ligon, a retired civil servant, and I’m asking for your vote for West Hollywood City Council. As a Program Manager at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, I helped more than 75,000 veterans access online services and trained over 10,000 healthcare employees. Earlier in my career, I worked in marketing and communications, helping startup companies launch new products and grow their businesses. These experiences taught me how to solve problems, build consensus, and develop practical, creative solutions. Before receiving my Masters in Communication, I was a Financial Planner helping individuals and small businesses invest, obtain loans, and create business plans to reach their goals. Throughout my career, I have helped technology companies, television networks - TBS, TNT, TNT Latin America and National Geographic - and the Department of Veterans Affairs communicate with the people they serve. I was inspired to run for City Council by my neighbors and fellow Tenant Association members. For the past 15 years, I have lived in an apartment building with residents of many ages, backgrounds, and perspectives. I have seen firsthand the challenges that arise in tenant-landlord relationships and the emotional stress people experience when concerns about maintenance, safety, noise, or changes to their homes threaten their peace of mind. Everyone deserves to feel secure in the place they call home. I also see too many empty storefronts where thriving local businesses once served our community. We must do more to help entrepreneurs and small businesses fill these spaces, strengthen our local economy, and preserve the vibrant character that makes West Hollywood unique. As your Councilmember, I will listen carefully, lead with integrity, and make decisions based on transparency, fiscal responsibility, and collaboration. I will work to strengthen our neighborhoods, support local businesses, and ensure that West Hollywood remains a safe, welcoming, and vibrant city for residents of every generation. I've spent my career in service to others. On Election Day, I’ll be asking for the chance to serve you. Vote Kevin Ligon. For more information: www.kevinligon.com

- Thank you to all 4,281 voters who supported our campaign in 2024. We spent $80,000 against $2.5 million in outside spending and almost beat Goliath. I've lived and worked in West Hollywood since 1986. I've served the City of West Hollywood in many capacities, including Chairman of the Public Facilities and Infrastructure Commission and Chairman of the Disability Advisory Board. A renter's rights initiative I proposed in 2015, allowing a senior or disabled renter to move from a second-floor to a first-floor unit without a rent increase, was signed into law by Governor Newsom in 2023 as AB 1620. I'm honored to be the 2026 recipient of the City of West Hollywood Older Adult Service Award, and the 2025 recipient of the City of West Hollywood Disability Service Award. Special interests and dark money in independent expenditures are working to sweep the remaining seats on our City Council. I'm fighting for us and a City Council that listens to residents and works for the people. As Publisher of WEHOonline, I have worked to provide the community with a platform to discuss and debate the issues that matter. We've held City Hall and the crony politicians accountable. It only takes one Council member to ask the tough questions, and I'm not afraid to stand up for what's right. As the owner of BlockParty WeHo, we have celebrated West Hollywood and survived as a community- serving business for over 17 years. The pulse of the city is in my blood and I feel the problems on our streets. The problems are real: failing infrastructure, wasted spending, politicians using a Council seat as a stepping stone, public safety pushed down the priority list, a City Council that adopted Sacramento's housing plan instead of writing our own. It's crazy that a city founded on rent control now has the highest rents in the region. The highest sales tax in the region. The highest cost of living in the region. Their policies have put self-interest ahead of our collective interest. I'm running to make West Hollywood safer, to protect residents and neighborhoods, to be a catalyst for a small business rebound, and to spend your tax dollars on public safety and resident services. I'd be honored to have your vote, and bring a friend. Let's win one for the people, and hold the city accountable to the residents who live here.
